Admissions International Students

International Students

We welcome international students to VCS as an opportunity for all to experience the cultural diversity we have in the oneness of Christ. We invite students from Kindergarten to Grade 12 to join in our vision and mission of “preparing students for a life of transformation and service through excellent, Christ-centred education”.

OUR INTERNATIONAL STUDENT PROGRAM

Our international students are expected to fully participate in all aspects of academic and extracurricular life, both on and off campus.

Parents and guardians are expected to support students in their academic studies, and in their physical and mental health. Parents and guardians are expected to attend school events, meet with teachers, volunteer in school activities, encourage student participation in sports, clubs, and other extracurricular activities.  Parents and guardians value Christian Education and understand the importance of being part of a church community for the spiritual formation of their child.

For those students with the goal of proceeding to post-secondary education in Canada, please see our International Student Graduation Policy.

ACCOMMODATIONS FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS

For students in Kindergarten to Grade 7, a parent or guardian is required to live with the child while they are studying at VCS.  Parents of students in Grades 8-12 are strongly encouraged to live with the student here in Vancouver. VCS may consider stays with related family members who are able and willing to fully support the student in all aspects of our program.

VCS does not have a homestay program. If a homestay arrangement is needed, parents are responsible for making these arrangements and for keeping in regular contact with the homestay family.  The homestay family would be looked upon as guardians, with expectations that they actively support the student and participate in life at VCS.

REGISTRATION TO OUR INTERNATIONAL STUDENT PROGRAM

Entry into our Kindergarten to Grade 7 program usually occurs in September or January.  A start in September is recommended.  Registration commences online according to grade levels, along with our tuition fee schedule. Students applying for Elementary will be required to attend a screening session conducted by one of our resource teachers.  This will give us an indication of your child's readiness for the grade they are entering and ensure we can appropriately support all our students.

High school functions on a semester system, with entry in either September or February.  International students applying for Grades 8 to 12 will require an International English Language Testing System (IELTS) academic test, with an achievement of an average of 5.0.  Exemption may be granted if the student has been receiving instruction in English at an International school. More information about our English language learner program can be found in our English language learner program guide.
