Lead Principal's Corner

We trust you have had a refreshing time away! Please read the following for some important updates!

  • The Building - A lot has been going on during the past few months! DGS, our construction company, spent a good deal of Spring Break working on deficiencies and Belfor, the restoration company, is about to install the new lower gym floor; the gym should be available by the end of April. Last fall, we ordered new playground equipment for the back and this was delayed by several issues; drainage and cold weather. We are hoping to see this installed in the near future. We have outfitted two classrooms with new furniture recently.

  • Teaching Staff for next year—We are in the midst of hiring for next year and are grateful that our staff turnover remains low and that God has already brought us some wonderful new teachers. We will have some staffing announcements to make in the near future.

  • Planning for next year—the most significant changes will be in our Middle School as we revamp the program for Grades 6-8 and hire new staff. Please stay tuned for specific information regarding this!

  • Parking and driving around the neighbourhood—We ask all our parents to continue to follow the rules of the school and to exercise patience. We are so grateful that almost all of you are able and willing to follow the rules. All parents should be signing up for traffic supervision on Sign Up Genius. Please remember not to park in front of the short stretch of Worthington between Mons and Falaise during peak hours. For HS parents: please drop your children off outside the grid during peak times: it took me 5 minutes to walk from Walmart to the school; give your children 10 minutes and they will easily make it on time.

  • After school safety— For the next week or so, administrators will be looking at our playground at about 3:45 to see if all K-5 students are picked up by 3:30 or are directly supervised by their parents.  So far this week, very few are left after 3:45. However, one third grader did tell me his parents were coming at 4:00. Parents are reminded that no staff supervision is provided by the school before 8:30 or after 3:30 on the playgrounds.
