Growing, Grounding, Glorifying— Glorifying Christ through Educational Excellence

This year, high school teachers are walking alongside 188 high school students. We have planned many educational experiences for our students. Our Student Leadership Retreat last week included more than 35 students from Student Council, Peer Mediation, Worship Council, and Grad Council. Our music department is bursting at the seams; 85 of our high school students are in band, choir, or strings orchestra. Our annual Christmas celebration, Evening in December, will be held at the local Michael J. Fox Theatre. Our students have more opportunities for academic and personal support through our expanded Student Support Services which include our Educational Support Team, Resource Teachers and Counselling Team. PEAK Week plans are underway and we ask for your prayers for a week of transforming experiences. In April, we will be hosting our first Fine Arts Café where our students will be able to share and showcase their creative works. The grad classes of 2020 and 2021 have met with a UBC student advisor who came to share about the UBC campus next week. The Israel-Palestine 2020 Team has begun preparations and studies of the Holy Land. At the core of all the planning, the deep hope is that we will be able to glorify Christ through educational excellence.

Last Thursday we were encouraged as we greeted the parents that came to our Meet the Teacher Night. It was evident through our teachers’ testimonies that they are passionate about their calling as Christian teachers and that they authentically desire to ground our students biblically to be passionate about their faith. It was our goal for parents to be able to get to know our staff on a more professional and personal level. We believe that this builds trust. It is important that you meet and get to know the teachers with whom you are entrusting your children at VCS.

If you have any positive feedback, encouragements, thoughts, concerns or questions, please connect with the teacher or staff directly through e-mail. As well, I value your thoughts, input and participation and would love to meet with you anytime. Please do not hesitate to connect with me at
