Dear Inquiring Family,
Thank you for visiting our website to seek out information regarding VCS. We are an interdenominational independent Christian school that educates students from over 90 different churches in the Lower Mainland.
Our curriculum is taught from a Christian Worldview perspective and meets the requirements set by the BC Ministry of Education. Our teachers are all committed Christians and certified by the Ministry of Education.
We trust that the information on this site will answer many of the questions you might have about VCS as well as help you make an informed decision regarding the educational choice for your child.
When are applications accepted?
Applications are accepted starting in October at and after our Open House day for the following September. For Kindergarten applications, we accept these applications in October at and after our Open House of the year in which your child is four.
What is the closing date for accepting applications?
We don't have a close date. We accept applications from October onward for the following September. We do not consider applications on a first-come-first-served basis but accept families through an interview process. Our interview times are from late November to mid-February for Primary, and February to April for Intermediate to High School. Once our classes are full, we will accept applications for a wait pool.
What does the application process involve?
The process begins with a tour of our school at our Open House in October. We also have personal tours throughout the year that you can book via this form or by calling the school office (604-435-3113). Once we receive a completed application, you may be contacted for an interview with the school principal, and an assessment session is scheduled for your child.
What is Kindergarten Day?
If your family is accepted into our kindergarten program, you and your child will be invited to attend our Kindergarten Day in April. The purpose of this time is to give you important information about preparing your family for kindergarten, and it is also an opportunity for our teachers to meet their future students. It is not a formal assessment or testing session; its goal is to help everyone--parents, students, and teachers--best prepare for an excellent start to school.
What is an assessment?
When students join us in grade one or higher, our learning assistance team conducts a one-on-one academic assessment with each incoming student. It takes about 30 minutes and covers spelling, math, reading, and reading comprehension. This assessment is not a test or an entrance exam; it is intended to give our staff a clearer picture of the learning your child has done up to this point.
What fees can I expect?
An application fee of $200 per family ($400 for international students) is required with a submitted application. This fee is processed when the family is invited for an interview. Upon acceptance, a $300 non-refundable deposit is required, which can be applied to the first month's tuition. Tuition fees are set in June for the upcoming school year.
