Job Title: IT Technician

Job Description

Vancouver Christian School, a thriving K-12 learning community,  is looking for a part-time or potential full-time IT Technician to join our IT support team starting March 26th, 2018. In this role you would be responsible for daily technical support around the school: device setup, account creation, and maintaining various network systems (phones, cameras, etc).

We are a Google G Suite for Education school and are transitioning into a Chromebook school. Some staff still require Windows computers for various software that is not available on Chrome OS. We have a 1:1 program in Middle School and a BYOD program in High School.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Technical Support

    • Monitor, update, and maintain tickets in our ticketing system

    • Assist our Student Help Desk team in solving complicated issues

    • Take over issues that are not solvable by our Student Help Desk team

    • Be responsible for any tickets that require staff passwords

    • Training staff on how to operate computer hardware, software, and AV system as necessary

    • Repair of student/staff laptops (broken screens, keyboards)

  • Device Setup

    • Staff laptop setup and prep (OS setup, software installation, Google Drive setup).

    • iPad setup using Meraki MDM

    • Chromebook setup with Google G Suite enrollment

    • Building and installing laptop storage towers

  • Account Creation & Maintenance

    • Create staff Windows accounts in Active Directory

    • Create and maintain staff and student accounts in Google G Suite for Education

    • Create and maintain student accounts in various student software websites (Typing Pal, Mathletics, etc)

  • Network Systems

    • Connectivity and operation of our:

      • VOIP Phone System

      • Security Camera and NVR System

      • Bells and PA System

      • Wireless Network and Access Points


  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in an IT role supporting LAN hardware and software

  • Ability to work independently and in a team

  • Self-motivated with a strong work ethic

  • Giftedness in problem-solving

  • Willingness to learn; take on new challenges

  • Excellent communication, writing, and interpersonal skills

  • Strong attention to detail

  • Proficient with Microsoft Windows 10, Google Chrome, Google Drive/Docs, and iOS

  • Experience with Ubiquiti Unifi products and the Unifi Controller Dashboard an asset

  • Experience managing Google’s Gmail for Business or G Suite for Education an asset
